a letter to my mama!

mommy,

you have spent my whole life surrounding yourself with things that make me happy.

you put yourself, your needs and your goals on hold to raise me.

i cannot imagine how difficult it was to pause your life to encourage me to live my best life.

once i was old enough to “be on my own” (never really on my own with you as my mother) - i was looking forward to you fulfilling your dreams you put on hold..to watch you live your best life as an empty nester.

yet, here you are doing it all over again with matty by your side and that is exactly what you were meant to do.

i truly think your purpose in life was to be a mom, a giver, a lover, a confidant.

you are the most selfless person i know.

growing up, i cannot lie, i didn’t think all these wonderful things about you.

sure, i loved you as my mom….but lets face it, you annoyed me in my grumpy teenage phase (iykyk).

all of my friends wanted you to be their mom; my response was always the same..

”you can have her.”

they even called you mom & came to you for countless of things.

advice, rides, talks about boys, conflict with their family, school, when they were in trouble & the list can go on and on…..

i can admit i did not recognize it then. now i do. what i have in you as my mother was and still is special.

to never feel alone, to never want for nothing, to be encouraged to be who i am meant to be, to be loved during all my tribulations.

you are an angel in human form, truly.

i am low-key jealous that matty gets to have that now because if i could go back in time to those days, i would stay present and be thankful for you.

reflecting these past few mothers days has been overwhelming for me. this should be my 3rd mothers day earth side with my baby, your grand baby.

and as overwhelming as those feelings are - i am also overjoyed that one day i will have the opportunity to be half the mama you are.

i am so proud of you.

i am so happy to be your daughter.

i do not think i can ever repay you for all you have done.

thank you for all of the little and big things you have done for me, mommy.
